I was lucky enough to visit a wolf sanctuary in Colorado. At the end of the tour, the guide got all the wolves to howl. It was the most incredibly moving experience. The hauntingly beautiful and mournful sound gave me goose bumps and literally made me cry. It stands to reason that this wolf claw, forever immortalised in silver is my favourite talisman.

Few animals on earth evoke such strong emotions as the wolf, or have suffered so much as a result of misunderstanding. In spite of its fierce reputation, it is a shy, intelligent and elusive creature. Wolf folk and fairy tales abound, shrouded in mists of fear, admiration, awe and loathing.

Wolf symbolism, thanks to pop culture, conjures up images of Lycans, shape-shifters, and feral dogs howling at the moon. Wolf symbolism is ambiguous; ranging from negative associations with darkness, aggression, and chthonic powers to positive characteristics like curiosity, intelligence, playfulness, fierce protectiveness of their young, pack allegiance, formidable hunting skills, and clearly defined social structure.
